Speaker- Tippecanoe Civil War Roundtable, Lafayette, IN
Tippecanoe Arts Federation Building where I presented
to the
Tippecanoe Civil War Roundtable on September 11, 2007
Mark Jaeger invited me to come
to Lafayette last year to do a presentation to the local
Civil War Roundtable. Lafayette is a four-hour drive from
Evansville - a long hike. Mark took me to an Irish pub
before we proceeeded to the meeting and I enjoyed a nice
fish and chips dinner. I presented to a small, but
enthusiastic group. There were plenty of questions and a
lot of interest in the story. The time flew by. I don't
look at my watch and I don't speak from notes so I never
know how long I've spoken. I enjoyed my trip to Lafayette
and I thank Mark Jaeger and the Tippecanoe Roundtable for
the invitation.

Speaker- Working Man's Institute, New Harmony, IN
The Working Man's Institute at New Harmony, Indiana,
September 15, 2007.
I spoke in the shade near the building entrance.
When I got an invitation to
speak at the Working Man's Institute the first thing I
thought to myself was, "What is a Working Man's Institute?"
Although I'm still not exactly sure, my feeling is that its
a resource library/ museum housing the local history of New
Harmony. If you are in New Harmony, I would say that you
would definitely need to drop by and give it a look. As the
time of the speech approached I decided at the last minute
to give the talk outdoors in front of the Institute. There
were some benches and about 20 people gathered around and I
just started talking. The time went by pretty quickly, but
I did sell a surprising stack of books for such a small
crowd. My thanks to Sherri Graves for the opportunity to
come by the Working Man's Institute and talk about Adam
Johnson.
