I am adding an entire section which shares my research into the Newburgh Home Guards. The home guard unit at Newburgh is of great importance to the story of the Newburgh raid. Had even one guardsman been posted on the riverfront on July 18, 1862, the outcome of the raid would likely have been quite different.
