Speaker- Mollie Morehead Chapter of the United Daughters of
the Confederacy, Calhoun, KY
Sue Berry and Edna Macon of the
Calhoun UDC were at my Henderson talk in October of 2005
and asked me to do a talk for the UDC. Of course, I jumped
at the chance. My first appearance of 2006. Although I
thought I was going to be rusty after taking four months
off from speaking- it all came naturally. I explained to
everyone that I had given up using notes to give my talks.
I used to pour over notes for weeks ahead of time and wound
up never using them. I talk to folks before the meeting
starts and whatever seems to interest people the most-
that's what I talk about. This night, it was the life and
times of Adam Rankin Johnson. I only touched on the raid.
The Calhoun UDC
is the most welcoming, friendly, outgoing group you'll ever
meet. They invited me to be at their tent for the
Sacramento re-enactment and I'm really looking forward to
it. About 20-25 people showed up and I sold about a dozen
books. The profits on my sales will be donated back to the
UDC. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed talking to
everyone at Calhoun and I'm looking forward to meeting
everyone again at Sacramento.
